At my own peril, I placed my hands to his shoulders, locking his gaze into mine. I could not force my will, but thought I might be able to subdue the primal urges.

Airuhmm fought me for a moment, as a cat might lash out and bat at an intruding hand in half-hearted protest. Then he allowed himself to be stroked. He rose to my mental touch, arched his non-physical back. He allowed himself to be soothed for the nonce.

Then he pounced on me.
I felt that it was playful, that he was merely returning affection… but my, are his affections ever rough. He sauntered into my mind, carrying my mentality by the scruff as he would a kitten. Dropped me, pawed at me, batted my brain around like a toy mouse. Then, he had his way with me. I should say, his spiritual being had its way with mine.

Basil had fallen back in the easy chair, eyes drooping heavily.

“That’s it. Just rest.” I patted his shoulder, and staggered on weak knees away from the chair. I collapsed on a nearby leather couch, and fell into my own daze.

I didn’t quite sleep, but the rest was refreshing. When I was able to comprehend my surroundings, I noticed Basil was absent.
I rose, stretched. I felt great. I strode out of the parlor…

And into blinding sunlight.
The entire house was flooded with it.

No, not again.
