Love Poems

Now that it's said and done
What now?
I'd be your reason.
But I don't know how

How can love be so quick?
And hit so hard?
I can't seem to catch my breath
I fell so far...

What more can I do?
How much to bleed?
Mystery and enthrallment
Has planted its seed

And from the drops
Of scarlet life
There arches forth
New strife....

You can be my reason
To withstand time
I'll be your reason
If you'll be mine

I have no reason
Can you be mine?
I feel unworthy
To be thine...

And as I sit here thinking,
Wondering at love...
You place your hands to my back
And prepare to shove

I'm at the edge
It's a long way down
I'm ready... I'm willing....
But...

How?

Gymnopedies
(2005)

Lazy light lifts the gloom…
tired eyes and laden bodies
reluctant to rise…
curl back into that
comforting warmth…

A finger traces a chest…
we don't have to get up
Today
no work, no play
just this…

just you. just me.
the world won't exist till
Tomorrow.

Lazy light yellows the shades…
lazy shadows glide across the sheets
"Is it early or late?"
a soft, contented sigh.
"it doesn't matter."

"no… it doesn't."

To lie here… in your arms…
and watch eternity lilt by
on rosy wings…
That slow, deliberate rhythm…
the soft sway of the branches
out my window
The gentle rocking of
our bodies…

Time doesn't matter
This is heaven.
Life can wait.

Life can wait.
